Beautiful campsite, bathrooms were well taken care of, rangers very nice and helpful.

The tent-spaces were large enough and within reasonable distance of flush toliets that were reasonably clean and well-lit. The spaces were not too close together. Unfortunately, our space had a lot of gravel, boulder, and tree roots in the tent-pitching area; I do not recommend a tent that needs to be staked to set up. The trailheads, sights, and town were easily accessible by car, and there is a bus stop at the campground. Be warned: after a sweaty hike or salty swim, THERE ARE NO SHOWERS. Apparently, they expect you to use pay-showers, but we could not locate any. (Maybe they remove them after Labor Day?) We stayed at a private campground on the island this same week, and this was equally good (except the shower issue) at a much lower price. This campground fulfilled my dream of camping in the Maine forest, and it is SHORT walk to an ocean overlook. All the rangers were friendly and helpful.

Very beautiful and peaceful. Love that there are no generators in loop b and the free island explorer bus was extremely convenient and timely.

Good campsite (B125) which was quiet, had a great tent pad, fire ring, and picnic table. It was close to the restroom but not too close. Really nice that you can walk to an ocean overlook and I was able to do a hike over to the Beehive trail from the campground (though from the back of the campground it was a bit more of a hike). You can also do a hike up Cadillac Mountain from the campground, but I didn't have time since there was so much to do!

Nice Shady campsites. Campsites are spaced well. Nice facilities. Convenient to bus routes, trails, and park features. Only thing would make it better is fi there were showers in the campground. The private shower facility was convenient by car a short distance outside the campground entrance and was a nice facility. Otter Creek community outside the campground was also convenient for firewood and camping supplies.

Wanted to comment that the Rangers/admin staff were great and very helpful. My son and I arrived in late August on an impromptu four day pre-school adventure (my son's request) and had been able to reserve one night on-line. There were a number of us last minute planners doing the same thing, relying on the possibility of a site becoming available. This situation must be nightmarish for the staff who are already busy with checking in all the reserved campers but the staff went above and beyond the normal course of business to accommodate us, thereby contributing to an exceptional four day father/son camping experience. My sincere thanks to all!

Our stay at Blackwoods Campground was our second camping location at Acadia. This campground is HUGE. After leaving the quiet isolation of the Schoodic Peninsula this campground felt like Times Square. It was busy all the time. My girls loved hanging our hammocks in the trees and building fairy gardens in the woods. Bathrooms are simple but adequate. Garbage and recycling were convenient to our site. During our stay at Blackwoods Campground we drove out every day to go into the main park - which is a long(ish) drive. A lot of the park follows a one-way road, which means that you do a lot of looping if you need to get to another part of the park. Acadia is beautiful and we loved our stay.
