Very nice campground. The only anoyance was the sound of the generators in the morning and at dinner time.

If youre staying in the Blackwoods generator/RV section (A loop), the majority of the sites are not anywhere close to level. Bring all of your blocks. I had to move our camper around on the site several times to find a spot that I could almost get it level. And our site (A72) was not the worst. I believe that on some sites it would be impossible to get level. The shuttle service into Bar Harbor is excellent. If you want to go somewhere else it gets a little complicated and requires transferring to other buses. Even in September, it is crowded. Large tour buses on The Loop, not enough parking, etc. if I were to go again, Id go off-season. Also, keep in mind that Bar Harbor is a cruise ship stop. If you figure out what days of the week they come, avoid going to BH on those days. Its inconceivable why they dont put showers in the campground or sell firewood. Were self contained so no big deal for us. But I imagine its a pain for the tent campers. Cadillac Mtn sunrise is a mad house. Get your timed entry for the earliest available and get there at the earliest time. Its cold up there, take warmer clothes than you think you will need. Sunset is not nearly as bad but its a very small parking lot. They close the lot when it gets full and have a Ranger there to enforce it. Bottom line: A magical, must-see place but too many people. Id consider May or late September for my next visit.

We very much liked acadia national park and the blackwood campground. But please abandon the generators! Either give the people electricity or do not allow generators! Really disturbing to have a morning coffee or dinner next to this noise!
