Stayed three nights at Zion South CG as my home base for a biking and hiking getaway to the canyon. CG is well located along the Parus Trail which served as a northward connector to the Scenic Drive via bicycle, and a southward connector to the visitor center, Zion Village, and Springdale for shuttles, showers, and shopping/meals. Campsite had beautiful views of nearby peaks and a calming sonic flow from the Virgin River. Bike rides to breakfast in Springdale were mostly downhill so you can wake up and coast, fuel up, and have an easy pedal back to the park. 10/10 will stay here again.

Zion National Park is a beautiful park, but there was a few things that surprised me about the park & the campsite. 1) You can’t go to most of the trails without taking a shuttle or by riding a bike. 2) Park Rangers will give you a ticket and claim that leaving food or trash on the campsite is against “the law” even though this reservation site never states it’s a law. They say the campsites are like “bear territory “ even though there’s no bears or any lockups available for food or trash. There was only one dumpster for all the campsites and wasn’t close to get to. They said to store everything in containers or your car, so don’t forget to do that if camping here. 3) No showers or markets within the park. They’re places to shower & markets outside the Zion National Park entrance, but there’s long lines to re-enter. 4) Campsite host drives around checking sites but never greets anyone. 5) If you want to do the Narrows trail, make sure to check if it’s open for your trip, because it was closed when we went.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that site 079 was one of the best in the campground - light traffic and open, expansive views. It ended up being a better selection than the sites I wasn't able to secure and had perceived as better based on the map. The deer and quail that visited the site on multiple occasions was the cherry on top!

C299 is a fair spot. They all seem to be a bit out in the open. It was monsoon season, choosing a spot for the tent was challenging.

The site had a beautiful view. Easily accessible to visitor center and town. The campgrounds were very clean, nice and quiet.

Everything is amazing. Little problem to book a shuttle.
