Very special location in mid summer, with such easy access to the Merced River and Tenaya Creek.

Beautiful site and close to hiking trails. OK, its right near the dumpsters and toilet facility but was not a problem.

We stayed in North Pines 501 mid-June 2022 and it was a perfect home base for exploring the valley. We had some shade under a tree and a great view of Half Dome looking east. Although 501 was an RV spot, we didn't have an RV and there was still plenty of room for pitching our 2 tents. Bathrooms (very clean, with flush toilets) and dumpsters were close by, which was very convenient for us, and we didn't think it was noisy or stinky. If you're looking to shower, there are very clean and nice hot showers at Curry Village near the pool. Check fire regulations when you go - when we went in mid-June, fires were only allowed 5-10pm for air quality reasons in the valley.

The park staff who checked us in was very kind. The bathrooms were clean and the dumpsters were easily accessible. It was a short walk to curry Village for dinner. We also walked to the Vernal Falls Trailhead easily from the campsite. I would highly recommend this campground.

Such an amazing place to visit the only part I didnt like was having to leave , September was a great time to visit as its in the off season but the water falls were not at peak so if I could recommend anything it would be to do ur research know the highlights and be prepared to walk all day to make the most of this magical place and get up early to make the most of each day as your time will fly past in this amazing place wow I cant wait to go back .

Hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. Access to park by car, bike, or on foot is extremely easy. Bathrooms were modern and clean. Get a spot along the river if you can (and if it isn't flooded), because it is absolutely lovely. Yes, you'll be fairly close to your neighbors - we even had a steady stream of strangers passing through our spot because it had prime river access which was definitely annoying, but if you're like me you'll look up at the mighty trees and steep granite walls all around you and you'll realize you don't really mind. Both this and Lower Pines are easy 5-stars! Upper Pines is a little too cramped for me to give it the same recommendation. If you're overnighting here around July 4th, I highly recommend watching the sun rise from Glacier Point - the sun rises right behind Half Dome and it looked like the Dome had wings of light. A half hour after it rose, everyone cleared out and we were literally at Glacier Point completely by ourselves, in the middle of summer. YMMV, but for us it was unforgettable.
