Loved staying right in the heart of the Valley. Not far from the Villages via Shuttle Bus or your own vehicle. Super close to the Mist Trailhead. Bathrooms were close by too, the view is amazing from here.

Would camp here again. Close to bathrooms and river. Neighbors on all sides so no privacy but that was okay.

This was a perfect base camp to explore Yosemite. I highly recommend staying here! The facilities are clean and the camp sites are large.

The location in the valley is perfect, views are stunning. Our site was close to the river which was great. The bathrooms were kept very clean and stocked with TP.

Need wider parking spots so two vehicles can park side by side.

My 3 days camping at North Pines was a wonderful experience. April weather can be unpredictable but luckily it was sunny every day and above freezing at night. I hiked over 10 miles every day. There is always something new to see in Yosemite!

It is unfortunate that the entrance/front desk rangers have no way of helping people get a site. There is really no data phone signal in Yosemite Valley, so using recreation.gov is nearly impossible - so many sites sit unused. We had to leave outside of the park and camp for 1 night, when every night we did stay in North Pines and Upper Pines, there were probably 10+ sites unused. We travel out of state to other parks and in the Tetons, Zion etc, the Rangers are always so helpful and tell us to get in line the next morning at 4 or 5 am to see if a site opens up. And that always worked for us. The Rangers in Yosemite just say, "Everything is full, you have to use rec.gov". So people sneak in, use the empty sites, and leave early in the morning - wish I had thought of this to save us gas and mileage on our RV.

North Pines is a beautiful campsite with clean bathrooms and drinking water. Camp fire was allowed but only from 5 pm to 10 pm, which seems a bit too restrictive. Many of the sites are shady and beautiful mountain views. Curry Village restaurants are walking distance from the campground. We had a wonderful stay.

We had never stayed in North Pines before only Upper Pines and it was just as great as Upper Pines. We hiked every day a different hike, 4 Mile Trail to Glacier Point, Mist Trail to Vernal Falls to Nevada Falls, Upper Yosemite Falls, The Valley Loop. It was amazing. Location was great. Camphosts were very nice. Didnt want to come home! Would love to go back again. We got this reservation through the Lottery.

Yosemite is beautiful but this was the wrong time of year to go. The waterfalls are very dry and the river is green. The national park has closed down all the buses and visitor centers. They spent millions on the renovation to the Mariposa Grove and new welcome center, but it all hinges on the buses, which aren't running, so you have to walk from the visitors center. They also screwed up the traffic flow in the valley by installing gates that force you to go certain ways at what were intersections. To get into Yosemite village you now have to go to Half Dome village and then come back because when you cross the bridge near Yosemite village the gates force you to head for the exit and don't allow you into the visitors area. One more frustration was in trying to get a back country wilderness permit. You now have to get them online at least 4 days in advance. They will not issue any in person, and the people in the wilderness office are very rude about it. I was very frustrated with all of the changes made by the NPS!

Rangers are extremely helpful. Site was right across from the river, great way to relax after a day of hiking. Excellent tree cover and options for setting up a hammock as well.

Great site! Soft ground for tent spikes. Easy access to mirror lake trail.
Kind of wish there were fewer lights for stargazing, but I’m sure we could have gone further away for that. Although I was a little afraid to roam too far with all the bear warnings. Would be nice if there was a separate area for car camping without a generator since the generators of our neighboring campers were kind of loud.
Nice that it’s so accessible for so many people. But also it was a little crowded in some areas, especially when trying to pick up camp firewood at the store.

I had some unexpected time off so I monitored the site for cancellations. I was very fortunate that during a time of questionable conditions due to fires/smoke I caught not only a campsite opening, but also reasonably good air quality. My first time staying during the dry season but Yosemite is always beautiful. Staying overnight allowed me to make it up to Olmstead and Dewey to enjoy the early morning lighting. I am a big fan of the limited day pass system, the smaller crowds made the whole trip more enjoyable. And I always find the hosts to be my greatest source of information, thank you!

It is always a pleasure to stay on this campground. It has everything you need for a stay in Yosemite: a river next to it, a table and fire ring, toilet facilities... and a great view!! Nothing else is required!!
