Stacy, the camp host is amazing. The problem was not with her. She gave us updates about the forest fire as soon as she had them. There was a miscommunication, and we were evacuated unnecessarily.
The "wilderness" quality of Islet CG has gone down ever since they started taking reservations. Large groups reserve multiple sites and basically take over the campground. They are inconsiderate of all the other campers.

There were dogs running off leash throughout the campground even though the camp host continued to tell people to keep their dogs on leash, per campground rules. One dog pooped in my campsite while it was wandering through, and I had to clean it up. There were large groups of loud, rude people. This campsite has gone down hill ever since they changed from all first come first served to mostly reserved sites.

We had read Karren K's review and thought, oh that must be a one off, that won't happen to us. We arrived around 3pm Sunday, our first reserved night. We arrived to a trailer in our site and a receipt of payment for that night. The people were out enjoying the lake as they should so we weren't able to speak with them. We saw other Reserved signs posted at other camp sites so we thought that the host must have made a mistake and not posted ours. We went to find the host and they were nowhere to be found. In fact there were several other parties looking for them too. We drove around the campground a few times hopeful that the host or the people in our site would return. We looked closer at the Reserved postings at the sites that had them up and they were all for the weekend (F - Su) not Su and on. At this point we realized that what Karren K posted about was in fact true. The host is an absentee host. By not posting the next reservations at sites, people looking for first come first served sites began moving in and paying at the pay box. They are not wrong for assuming the sites are available. The host isn't doing their job and it's causing all sorts of confusion. We left a note at the host site and site 32 which we had reserved. About 6pm the people who had paid for our site came back and were very understanding about the situation. Around 6:30 the host finally showed up and told them to move to site 15 which had become occupied during the day because the host wasn't around to regulate what was going on. Since we were tent camping and they had a trailer we shared the site for the one night. But the site was double paid for. Perhaps the host pockets the extra cash? I hope not. We were supposed to move sites (reserved) later in the week and meet up with friends but that site had become occupied by a walk up group and paid for through our reserved dates. Because of this we canceled and left. Waldo Lake is beautiful. The host is TERRIBLE!!!
