Site 003 was secluded from other sites. If we stay at the Area Black Canyon Campground in the future we will do our best to reserve a site closer to the river and away from the busy highway noise. I am frustrated with whoever is responsible for denying our request for a refund for the nights of July 11th 12th and 13th. We cancelled those nights with a customer service rep from Recreation.gov. We were informed we would receive a refund for the nights we canceled minus cancellation fees. We were asked by the recreation.gov customer service rep to notify the camp post that we would be leaving on the dates referred to above. He can’t host nor anyone in that campsite had access to cell service it was a dead space for all cell carriers. The morning of the 11th around 9 AM we visited the camp hosts campsite to inform them and verify that we would not be in the campsite for the next three days. For some reason we received an email two weeks after we left that the facility manager denied our request. I spent approximately one hour Speaking to two different customer service reps from Recreation.gov and they could not give me any contact information for the facility manager. In fact they had known number and the only number I could get was someone named Susan V. Bottom line the money wasn’t much it’s the principle of the thing that we did not stay the night so the 11th 12th and 13th. We canceled according to the policy but either the camp host whoever the facility manager is denied it and we don’t know why. Very frustrated with Recreation.gov that they can make reservations but they have no ability to handle any problems that may arise. If there’s anyway to make reservations in the future of that recreation.gov I’m going to try to do so.

Clean bathrooms and sites. The site we were in were extremely close to the highway and it was very loud. At 8pm the first day of our stay we asked the host if we could transfer sites as the place was virtually empty and were were somewhat politely denied stating someone could come but none of the sites we saw were reserved and she even claimed there were a lot of cancellations but sited the hosts dont have access to the website. She advised to go to the website and pay for an additional site(double what we paid essentially. Sure enough no additional guests showed up all weekend. Lastly, the tent sites are heavily graveled making it virtually impossible to pound in and retain stakes, which my tent required for the rain fly. Really disappointed.

Great hosts, very clean campground as well as restrooms. Right highway 58, so traffic could be loud at times, but that is to be expected.

Great camp. Very shady and clean. The River access was great to dip in. There is a shallow spot you can dip in. No running water in the sites though all water was shut off.

The campground is close to the highway and active railroad tracks, but the campground is still worth visiting. Our RV is a 30 foot fifth wheel, and that was a tight squeeze through the one-way loop. The river is easy to get to. The camp host was very friendly, and the bathrooms were very clean.

We discovered Black Canyon Campground in 2017, when it became our home for 3 nights during the Great American Solar Eclipse. We were happy then and we were happy now!Black Canyon Campground is an excellent place to relax in the forest, with biking for the kids, fishing on the Willamette River just steps away, and hiking on the wonderful Nature Trail. The hosts are always helpful (the first time around, our car battery died and the host came to give us a jump start). The 2nd time around, were were in a rental RV, and though the camp doesn't have water or electrical hookups, it has an excellent pull-through spot, #3, which we were able to get.
