The host at Covered Bridge was extremely helpful with much advice and went out of his way to provide my wife and me with various trail maps of the area.

We’ve camped twice at Covered Bridge (7 years apart) and found it to be peaceful, quiet, and well maintained. All sites seem to be nicely shaded with a floor of packed dirt/small gravel (bring a mallet to drive in tent stakes!), and are a short walk to both the Boulder Loop trailhead (2-3 hr moderate hike) and the Swift River. Bathroom facilities were clean but are open pit latrines. We loved being able to jump in the river as a morning wake up before breakfast and found the campground’s location to be very convenient to both Conway and points of interest on the Kanc.

The campsite was largely empty the second week of October, so we probably did not need a reservation. It was a quiet place with large, shaded campsites spaced relatively far apart. We decided to leave early due to rainy weather, but could not get a refund for unused nights due to strange rules which do not allow refunds until after the original reservation period is over.
