We recently spent 6 nights at Bulltown. We had a good time, but was disappointed when we pulled in and found out that only loops D & E were open for the off-season. As it was a good weather weekend, there were only a handful of spots left. We settled for a spot for us that was not ideal for us, close to the next spot, unlevel, and directly behind the bath house. After the crowd moved out on Sunday, we moved to a much better spot. I believe that if ALL 4 loops along the lake, C, D, E, and F, were to stay open after Labor Day, you would not have such a difficult time finding a spot since it is first come - first served. We love staying in C Loop. We did find out that C was open for overflow spots (if needed) and then will close back down on Monday. The office is only open for (2) hours each day during the off season. If you come to the campground outside of these hours, you have to come back to the office the next day and pay for the night before, and then for however long you want to stay. A few years ago, we were able to pay when we arrived through the self-pay envelopes (with cash). This was much more convenient than making another trip to the office, wait in line to pay (there were 5 people ahead of me, waiting in the rain) and then go back to camp. The laundromat change machine and softener/dryer sheet vending machines were also out of service. I wanted to do a load of laundry since we stayed for a week, but didn't have enough change to run the washer and dryer. The office doesn't accept cash anymore, so I figured it was a waste of time to ask. The (1) dumpster for the campground was overflowing when we checked in on Friday, and definitely was on Sunday after everyone checked out from the weekend. This attracted cats who tore into bags and made an even bigger mess. Bulltown is a beautiful and enjoyable place to camp, but I feel like management could be more on top of things, even though it was during the off-season. Sadly, I don't see pride anymore.
