We rolled into Hood Park with our RV and high hopesand honestly, the place delivered. Beautiful old-growth trees stretch high overhead, casting shade like natures cathedral. The riverside campsites? Picture perfect. Its the kind of spot that makes you consider quitting your job and living the RV dream full-time.But then the spiders.Hood Park isn't just a campgroundits apparently also a bustling metropolis for spiders of every shape and size. Walking through the campground felt like participating in an involuntary obstacle course made entirely of webs. Every tree branch was home to a tiny acrobat, and each morning stroll meant getting rained on by spiders dropping gently from the trees like nature's version of glitter. And those webs? You couldnt avoid them if you tried. I probably hit my step goal just trying to dodge them.And the RV? Well, it's now officially co-leased. On the way home, we hit 70 mph down the highway, figuring that would shake off any lingering stowaways. Nope. Over 50 spider survivors made the trip, tucked into corners, vents, and apparently forming a union in the bathroom skylight.Ive formed an emotional bond with several of them. Carl rides on the dashboard now.Would I go back? Absolutely. But next time, Im packing peppermint oil, a Hazmat suit, and charging Carl rent.

I stayed at Site #6 on August 3/4 (Saturday/Sunday)It's pretty open space and one of the farther site from the next one over.The view of Snake River is beautiful, you will see and hear boats and traffic off Highway 12 day and night.If you forget your alarm clock, the lawnmower will make sure you're up at 745am on Monday.The sound of the train will also keep you entertained. There's burn ban in the summer, but they allowed propane fire pits.Make sure you know the length of your trailers, the pull through we're spacious, there's a few site that we're very close to each other, but you can see that on the campground map before you book, so some of the reviews here are not true. The campground is very nice compared to some state and forest campgrounds that I've been to. The bathroom and showers were great, a nice plus for a Federal owned campground.Only one bathroom in the campground, the other one is in the day use area. Very Clean, the camp host goes around the grounds often on their utility cart and they are easy to find. The front check in office are staffed the whole day and the ladies were nice and informative.The camp Host were very nice! Very helpful and kept the bathrooms and all areas clean.It's an electric only hookup, there's water spigots nearby. The spiders were active, and I think they are this time of the year. You will run into cobwebs. Keep your tents closed, there were mosquitoes, but not as bad as if you're in the forest. Overall this campground is nice and would come back here if I need a place to stay for a night or two. Traffic and train was noisy cause I was in a tent.Bring your swim suit, there is a swim area.Ice Harbor Dam is nearby and in the summer they have tours of the dam. The town of Pasco is a couple minutes away and they have awesome Mexican food places. Cellphone coverage with Verizon is good, you will be fine if you need to post all those pics you took for your Facebook, OF or your IG

Great location for visiting museums, National Parks, and Ice Harbor Dam. Water was great. Be prepared for lots of moths.

We felt lucky to snag a site that accommodated our rig on short notice, and were surprised to see the park almost empty the entire time that we were there. Maybe others were cancelling (air quality from distant fires was not great)? I wonder if the geese are seasonal visitors and just happened to be there at the same time we were? There were a lot of them and as a result - a lot of goose poop! We were close to the day use area, which provided a beautiful view of the lake, bridge and beyond. Our stay was Sunday through Wednesday, so it was very quiet (in the campground as well as the day use area). Looking forward to returning to this park.

Good and bad:
The facilities were clean and park personnel friendly and helpful. Campground very shady. Electrical at each site was a real surprise/bonus! The river was very pleasant for kayaking, once we got through the "stinky" algae and weedy section.
Bad: the park and shade trees are crawling with spiders-very large ones! We were camping in a Vanagon-thank goodness not a tent! In the morning our van was covered with spiders and there were at least a dozen around the inside of the door openings. We were even killing them after arriving back home.
