Many campsites were out in the blazing 100 degree heat and full sun, no effort to plant ponderosa pines to help shade the campsites. I looked at a the site and left for a shaded campsite.

This campground has been slowly evolving from an almost lawless place to a more controlled, lively place to go. It still has large groups of partiers on the summer weekends; but thankfully, a change in campground hosts (the former was never ever around) seems to be making a difference. The new hosts have been seen regularly, walking through, cleaning sites, talking with campers, and generally keeping things in order.
There was a recent (this Spring) wind storm that fell several old Pines and many Cottonwood trees. This was unfortunate as there is not that many trees in the campground to start. So even more dry, hot sun to bake us campers. Hopefully the BLM will plant more trees to try and bring some green and relief from the sun for us campers.
Most campers enjoy the Yakima River which runs right next to the campground, and many if not most, are camping to either fish or float the river.
My biggest note about this campground is, on the weekends during the Summer months, if you are looking for a quiet serene place to camp, this probably isn't going to be the place for you.
