Overall, it is a nice area but there are no trails to speak of for hiking and the weeds were overgrown and tinder dry. The tent only camping spaces were completely unkept. They could do better.

Big Pines has been our go to spot for years. It's a great place to camp when you are planning on floating the river for its easy pull out at the boat launch. We tend to camp on the weekdays there as it quickly fills up with the kids on the weekends. The camp hosts Dallas and Cindee were wonderful and helpful when we needed something.

We had 2 spots for 4 nights it was so much fun. We were right on the river. We floated it several times our dogs got to go too. Only one night of people having a party after hours but it was no big deal. We will definitely be going again.

Of all the National Forest campsites we have visited, this is, by far, the most beautiful and well-maintained. The hosts here, Anita and Mike, just do an exceptional job of keeping the campsites immaculately maintained...and they are quite friendly, to boot! The trails are beautiful and have interesting placards regarding the forest's timeline while still being rustic enough to make one feel like one is really taking a hike...and not just at a museum. The Big Pines is well worth the drive and a beautiful place to stay.

We were on a rafting fishing adventure and had a great campsite at a great price. Minimal amenities but a nice clean spot to camp.
