The site itself is wonderful. Roomy, right by the confluence of the Colorado River and Onion Creek, private and clean. Five picnic tables and a larger shelter. Concrete fire pit, close to the very clean vault toilets. However, I reserved on rec.gov two nights and paid $308. My buddies were curious why I paid so much when the sign on the site said $50 per night. I am curious as well.

Great location and access to onion creek. We had a noisy generator from another campsite and had to remind them of the 8am-8pm cutoff. Bathroom was pretty clean.

I love this spot. No loud dust throwing utvs, had colorado river access, restrooms, located a mile from river road so it's very quiet and shade structures in group sites. Only issue is the wind but that's all over moab. It's my favorite spot, don't try and outbid me for my reservations;)

Lower Onion Creek is one of the best camping sites along the Colorado. It’s the only one that is well off the main road, so you get no car noise from UT-128.

The main camping sites are first come first served, but groupsites A, B, and C are reservable. All groupsites have a shelter, and there is also a public day-use shelter along the river next to the parking lot. In my opinion, groupsite A is the best as it is the only one on the same side as the Colorado River, and has foliage and trees. Sites B and C have a parking lot between them and the river, and besides the shelter, there is no foliage or tree to protect from the hot sun.

There are also river entry points in the parking area. It’s a great spot for tubing or SUPs, and the river is calm in this area. Small rapids further down river but would recommend life vests if tubing. You will need a permit for actual rafting, but no permit needed for tubing or SUPs.

Great site, restrooms are primitive, but well maintained. Nice campsites, quiet at night.

The site itself is nice but the management seems non existent. They didn't have a calendar posted so another group naturally assumed the site was available and setup camp. Thankfully they were agreeable to vacate when we showed up with proof of purchase but they had also already paid which sucks for them. Could have been avoided if the Bureau of Land Management was attentive but they clearly aren't. You can't even get in contact with someone by calling in regards to the site and the answering machine is full.

our group reserved the site for sat. There was a commercial group at the site on Friday. Their group had many tents scattered over an area clearly marked "no camping". When noon came and went, the group did not leave. The clients were still on the river. The clients arrived back at camp around 1:00 pm. The group was then fed lunch, and proceeded to begin packing their tents. I spoke with the trip leader several times - he just keep saying they were leaving. They did not leave camp until 3:00 pm. I am positive their group size was well above the limit. This is also a for-profit company, and I am under the impression this is not allowed. We did not camp at the site due to the late hour and heat. I spoke with the BLM re this issue, I was told they have had many complaints about this particular group. I would also question whether commercial groups are given preference in the reservation system. All said, it was a terrible experience.
