After lodging complaints over the past few years, I think this may have been our last visit. 2 different households travel 4.5 and 7 hours with hope to enjoy the great Diamond Lake which once was. While the general area is replete with outstanding natural beauty, the campground has been increasingly neglected. 1. Sites are left trashed for the next visitors. Sites used to be "groomed" prior to new arrivals - no more.2. Toilets are in decent shape but the men's urinals continue to smell and look bad with built up urine scale.3. The bathroom on G Loop (both men's and women's) nearest the Registration Office continues to be without power and lighting for the past few years.4. Picnic tables are in need of levelling. It's hard to enjoy meal prep, dining, and other table-related activities when stuff keeps falling over or rolling away.5. Recreation.gov shows that campfires are allowed, but they are NOT (at least when we visit each of the past 3 years)! If you want a fire to warm you in the chill of the morning, you can only use your own propane fire pit.The only saving grace (that justified 2 stars instead of 1) for the campground facilities that we experienced were the showers. They seemed clean, functional, and with enough warm water. All said, there must be better campground facilities out there, but like I said earlier - This may have been our last at Diamond Lake.

Great campsite on the lake. Bathrooms short walk away. Showers in good, working condition.

The lake, the views and the recreational opportunities were all great, as usual. But the Forest Service has really dropped the ball on maintenance. It is contracted out to a private party but whoever is supposed to be monitoring the contractor has some work to do if basic standards are to be met. We were in Loop K. Only one potable water tap in the entire loop was working. The restrooms were filthy! The restrooms ran out of TP the first morning we arrived and were not refilled during the rest of our stay, (one additional day and night). This is inexcusable. Campers expect a basic level of hygienic standards to be maintained at federal campgrounds. If the Forest Service can't provide these services, then they need to post that clearly on the Recreation.gov website that campers must be prepared to provide their own toilet tissue. I have been camping at Diamond Lake since 1979. This is the first time that the facilities have disappointed me. Surely the Forest Service can do a simple job like refilling toilet paper rolls.

Campsite and facilities were amazing! It was gorgeous being right on the water. Still enough trees overhead that we could find coverage for cooking and eating during gentle rain. Spacious campsites and enough privacy between campsites. The lake was absolutely beautiful.

The one blip was due to the campers here before us. Although we arrived 2 hours after check in, the previous campers were still packing up. They left some trash, sticky food remnants all over the tables, and burnt cans in the fire pit. This is obviously out of the hands of the campsite, and it's ideal to just trust campers to stick to a leave-no-trace policy, but some small drive-through between campers could help ensure folk are held accountable to leave no trace.
