NOT our vibe at all. The creek was sad. I nearly puked trying to use the bathroom. Camp host never even said hello.

Mid week was perfect. Quiet and beautiful. Restrooms were clean and well stocked.

We stayed in site 7. We loved it. It was not very close to any other site. For this campground that is saying a lot -- most of the other sites are very close to each other. The website called this site a pull-through. It was not. It was a little tricky to get the door of our trailer facing our campsite and not the road, but not too hard. One of the benches on the picnic table in our site was not there, so there was only one bench to sit on. The camp host for this camp is actually located at Cherry campground, about 6 miles before you get to Balsam. You have to go down there if you want to buy firewood from them as they only make one trip up to Balsam each day before 9:00 in the morning and they do not bring any firewood with them. It would have been nice to know that before we drove up so we could stop on the way up. Also, there is running water at the spigots, but due to the website saying there was no water available at this site, we had brought our own and didn't use the campground water until after we talked to the hosts the morning after we got there. Thank goodness! They told us it was safe to wash with but not to drink. There were no signs anywhere that indicated that. I saw someone brushing their teeth using that water, and I think I saw some kids get a drink from one of the water fountains. I sure hope they are okay. The sound of the creek running through the campground was wonderful! It got quite hot during the day and although our site was surrounded by trees, there wasn't a lot of shade in our spot, however, most of the other sites have quite a bit of shade. The map of this campground isn't completely accurate, but it's not hard to find the site numbers. It seemed that most people who came to this campground while we were there only came for one night, so most of the days the campground was very quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms were cleaned and stocked with TP every morning. We would definitely go back to this campground again.

We stayed on site 7. The map is not very accurate on the placements of the sites. The site was small but pretty private on the sides other than the side facing the road. The creek runs right behind the site and was nice to listen to. The bathroom was far from clean, however. The floor was always covered in pee and the toilet needed a lot of help. There were a few dead trees close by that made us nervous, however. There’s also not a lot of places to hike or explore. It was a nice stay but probably won’t be back.
