Tanners Flat is located in a fantastic area within a beautiful canyon (Little Cottonwood), but many / most of the campsites are situated in such dense trees that it's difficult to get much of a view of the surroundings. On the positive side, there's a fair amount of room between camp sites, so it's pretty quiet and private. On the not-so-positive side, it seems as though all the bathrooms have been out of commission for sometime, so campers currently only have access to portal potties without sinks. Overall, the primary campsite in Big Cottonwood (Spruces) is easily preferable, but this is still a nice place to stay.

The site was nice, very private. BUT there was no clear place to wash dishes and the camp host suggested the bathroom sink which was kinda gross. There was no place to bathe - bathroom sink too:) The beautiful river was off limits with threatening signage. There also were no chairs as pictured so bring your camp chairs! Just a picnic table. Last there were warnings about bears but no bear-safe place to store food
