We have camped at Timpooneke for years. WE LOVE IT! For the first time ever, the campsites we normally book were under different management and if we wanted to stay at our favorite site...we were forced to pay close to $450 dollars for two nights because they set up a GLAMPING site . (they promised to refund $130) but still...I used my ENTIRE budget for summer fun in one stay. The campsite had a locked wall tent set up permanently for the summer. It housed two full sized IKEA mattresses on bed frames, a nightstand, a chair, two rugs and two battery lanterns. Super uncomfortable. Super small (two adults didn't fit on one bed so I slept on the ground, my two young daughters slept on one and my husband on the other). It was so uncomfortable that we ended up NOT staying the second night. Also, our stay was over the 4th of July, booked and paid in full back in January, and we haven't heard a word about the refund until today. The email said they are "Reviewing our request for a refund". Whatever that means. I hope they will go back to our regular, affordable campsites. It was not worth the money to stay in their tent versus just bringing my own. Also, they limited the site to one vehicle (we normally have our other children drive up and join us for the night) and 4 people. I'm sorry...but what family in Utah has only 2 children?? So we "uninvited" our other 4 children to stay with us, had them come up for dinner only...paid another $10 to park for an hour (because the $443 price tag wasn't sufficient I guess)...and drive back down the canyon before 10 when the gates closed.

As usual...the camp hosts were FABULOUS. They were helpful and kind and tried to help us make the best of our stay. They even loaned us their leaf blower to clean off our concrete pad after a day of fire cooking. No complaints whatsoever with the onsite help....just entirely FRUSTRATED with whatever is trying to be accomplished with GLAMPING in a National Forest.
