We have been camping at Monte Cristo for over 20 years & usually stay a full week. It is one of our favorite campgrounds & it's beautiful. There are pine trees particularly in loops D & E and the group sites. It's not good for large trailers. There are tight turns with overhanging trees that could damage large (and tall) trailers. We have a 29' fifth wheel & about 1/3 of the sites in loops D & E will accomodate us. Loop D has the tightest turns & depending on how the trees are trimmed that year, we can't always get into that loop. (We always walk the loops & check before we drive our trailer in.) Loops A, B, & C are really designed for tents or very small trailers.

It's great that the sites are by reservation now. However, the last several years have been a challenge. The campground host, Lynn, seems to have two personalities. Sometimes he is very nice/helpful. Other times, he is outright over-the-top rude/abrasive. He was so blatently rude to my sweet aunt that she begged him to stop yelling at her & to talk to her like a human being. He apologized & said he was having a bad day - not an excuse IMO. I realize that part of his job is to educate about/enforce rules. My aunt didn't know that you now cannot fill trailer water at the campground (as we have done for the past 20 years & didn't know the policy had changed.) And on another occasion, he actually yelled at us when he saw we have a toy hauler - saying that we better not think of setting our ATVs down on his roads. We didn't even bring ATVs with us to this campground because we know they are not allowed. But he assumed & obnoxiously proceeded to lecture us about it without even asking if we had any with us. And then, later that day, he stopped by our campsite & was delightfully pleasant. Also, we're not certain, but prior to the sites being by reservation, we're pretty sure he was saving good ones for his family/friends. He said it's his last year (in 2020) so hopefully they find someone more pleasant.
