Overall experience at this campground was good! There was decent tree coverage at our site which helped to separate us from other campers, but it didn't offer much shade. I'd say about half of the sites did have adequate shade throughout the day, though. My one major pet peeve was the noise. It seemed to be a popular campground for families, so we heard kids screaming all day. Although the sites were privatized by trees, the actual distance between the sites isn't that much, so we heard entire conversations from the campers at each site around us. The bathrooms were nice and kept very clean. They have flush toilets, and in the women's restroom there are two stalls. Water spigots around the campsites offer clean water for drinking and rinsing off. It's a beautiful area with lots of little wildlife running around. We had a great time watching chipmunks and squirrels bounce around the trees. They never bothered us or tried getting into our food. We didn't use the boat ramp, so I can't comment on that, but we did drive down to it. It looked functional enough, and there was plenty of parking. The on-site managers seemed a little gruff, and weren't exceptionally nice when we met them. It's not really a problem, though. Their little camp entrance "store" has ice and firewood for purchase. We never saw them checking campsites to verify registration, so I don't think they do much monitoring. MAJOR COMMENT: there is zero cell service here! We have TMobile, and it is a 45 minute drive all the way back down the mountain to be able to make a call. We almost had an emergency where this would have been a big issue, but we were luckily able to avoid it.Regular ole campground overall!

THE HOSTS ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE. EXCELLENT HOSTS.BUT CURRANT CREEK HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS.1) ALL SITES ARE NOW RESERVATION ONLY. THAT'S TERRIBLE. MY WORK SCHEDULE VARIES -- WHICH MEANS I CANNOT GO TO CURRANT CREEK AGAIN BECAUSE I MUST HAVE A RESERVATION.YOUR NEW 'RESERVATION ONLY' SYSTEM IS MEAN. GO BACK TO THE OLD WAY -- SOME SITES WITH RESERVATIONS, OTHERS ARE WALK IN. 2) ALSO. CURRANT CREEK IS NOW A LAWLESS PLACE. FOREST SERVICE NEEDS TO ENFORCE THE RULES.A) PEOPLE PUT UP TENTS RIGHT WHERE THERE ARE 'NO CAMPING' SIGNS. B) TRUCKS DRIVE BEYOND FISHERMENS PARKING -- RIGHT OVER THE GRASS AND BUSHES -- AND PARK FOR THE DAY AT THE EDGE OF THE WATER. C) MOTORHOMES PARK FOR THE WEEKEND RIGHT ON THE ROAD. ENFORCE THE RULES.
