Soapstone is a nice quiet campsite with decently well dispersed sites that offers tons of shade from mature pines and aspens through the campground. The river is on the back side of the loop and seasonal creeks run through many of the other sites throughout the campground. Our site felt very private and had a new fire pit with built in grill and a very large picnic table that could easily sit 10+ people. Pit toilets are spaced throughout. The road is well paved and smooth. The campground consists of several one direction loops, but be advised that many sites require RVs and trailers to drive against the flow of traffic to back into their designated sites. Altitude is on the lower side for the Uintas, so it is a great early and late season campground but may be warm for mid-summer July-August. Bring bug spray, as the site had plenty of mosquitoes at dusk. The ground was also pretty silty so be ready for little ones and pets to get covered in dust. During our stay an adult moose was seen multiple times walking through campsites along the river.Overall a great site if youre looking for a lower altitude campground to relax to or use as a home base to explore the Uintas.

Soapstone is a nice CG not too far from Kamas, Ut. The Provo River runs nearby and we enjoyed exploring along the river. I would stay here again. The CG is just far enough off of Highway 150 and the trees are dense enough that you hardly hear the highway noise.

It was a wonderful site close to where we needed to go. Brought the utv and had a great time.

We had a blast at our secluded campsite #14! Although recreation.gov shows this as an exterior site next to the river, it was an interior site; due to the spacious size of the site, its available shade, as well as it being the only site I noticed with a double picnic table, we decided to stay anyways. It is a walkable distance to the vault toilets and trash bin without having extensive passing traffic from other sites. We will definitely reserve this site again!
