Site had a good distance away from others and very walkable to the bathrooms. Heavily treed, nice table and fire pit. Third time here and well be back next year!

Ponderosa Campground has been a favorite spot for years. It is maintained with great amenities. I also like that it is fairly close to Star Valley / Payson.

The camp host was ridiculous. We arrived, had our reservation and proceeded to our spot. Halfway to our spot she ran out of a restroom she was cleaning and began yelling at us that we were supposed to stop at her host rigfirst. It did not say that anywhere, and even if it did, she would not have been there! Condescending and rude!! Also the d7mp was closed for true season in August!!! Likely will not be back.

The campsite host was the worst I have ever experienced!!! She was extremely rude and unfriendly. She automatically assumed we were taking a site without a reservation which we clearly had res for and showed proof. In the end she was the idiot who forgot to put the reserved tag on our site. No apology. Don't hire this host again. Never met a host who was so miserable!!!!!!

We've been to Ponderosa several times and it remains our favorite.

Nice area for camping in spring or fall but very warm towards the end of spring-not enough elevation. Campsite D8 is rated for an RV or trailer/ fifth wheel 35 feet long but trees are too close. We positioned our 5th wheel so we could open the slide but could not open the awning. We had a choice of one or the other. Also, site D8 has a tree branch that runs along the upper right side of the camper when backing in. I’ve noticed the same problem at other National Forest campgrounds that advertise they can handle camper lengths of 35 - 50 ft but low tree branches are a hazard to your camper. Even though the National Forest administrators hire tree cutting crews each spring before opening they don’t seem to notice low hanging tree branches. On the positive side the Camp Host Beth was very friendly and informed us of bear sightings during check in. She is one of the best Camp Hosts we have encountered in many years. Thank you Beth! Overall it was a good experience but maybe when the tree cutting crews do trimming in the spring they should be accompanied by a person who parks a camper in the sites so low branches can be pointed out.

It is very easy to find this Campground and the site was clean and ready for us. There is plenty of space to park, walk and relax.

This was one of the better campgrounds we have visited in Arizona. The sites were very large and shaded. We had plenty of room even with 2 big tents, 2 cars, 7 people and a dog. It was a beautiful campground with a great location. The host was extremely friendly and welcoming. She had the cutest dog with her and she keeps the campground meticulously groomed and clean. We had a great time and will definitely be visiting again!

One of the largest campgrounds below the Mogollon Rim with lots of room for bigger rigs. We had a problem with a nearby, inexperienced pair of campers - lots of noise and large, smoking fires. Our camp host, Beth, took care of the problem with diplomacy and strong guidance.

The camp site was clean and spacious! The vault toilet was clean and always stocked. The camp staff was great and friendly!
