Camped at Houston Mesa three different times and enjoyed the near-by sites especially Tonto Natural Bridge State Park.

Clean sites. They are close together, but the trees make you feel alone. Noce place!

excellent campsite. we (4 famililes) reserved Mountain lion site 1-2. site 1 can fit 3 camps, site-2 is bit small, but 2 camps can be squeezed-in. we wanted to stay closed to each other, so site-1/2 are very good. but it may feel bit too close for separate parties.both the sites were clean, restrooms were pretty good.daytime weather was awesome. we under-estimated the night temp (54F).these two became our fav sites (feedback from wives/kids)

First time camping here and it was great. I love the trees around the campsites and how the campsites are situated. Very close to town somif you're missing something you can go to Walmart or other stores quickly. Campsite has amenities, free water, free restrooms, $3 min for showers. The only downside was a few restrooms and showers were down. Apart from that really good place to camp.

Very close to Payson and yet out in a nice forest area.

Close to town, but not too close! Flush toilets, plenty of space between campsites, i will definitely be returning to Houston mesa!I like to go camping with a group of friends, and we reserved two sites right next to each other. Two tents and two cars per site. It was an awesome birthday party.

This was our first time here. It will be one of our go to spots going forward. Wasn't expecting to love it because it's so close to town, (you could walk to Payson if you choose to, its only about a mile or 2 depending on where exactly you want yo go) but, it's all that was open up north. I wanted trees and that is hard to come by this early in the year because most places are closed for winter. We LOVED it here. Lots of trees make you feel so far away from town and provide great privacy between sires. The sites are large and well spaced. Had Elk in the camp early morning and at night. The showers are clean and hot, and 3 minutes is way longer than you think. Bring quarters. $3 per shower. Had plenty of time to enjoy it and still had time left. Hostess was friendly and helpful. Whether it's a one night stop over or a week of unwinding, we definitely recommend Houston Mesa campground.

Was able to fill up trailer with water there when we checked in. Camp space size was huge compared to so many others. Had cell reception. Never felt like we were that close to town. Right on the main path to all of the beautiful sites. Felt safe. Camp host was friendly. Overall A+ rating! Definitely recommend it.

Campground was clean and quiet. We didn’t realize that it was so close to Payson, AZ ( right on the edge of town) but it really wasn’t a problem. The sites have good spacing between them and is wooded.

This is a great campground in a great area. The camp hosts are very nice and the hiking trails accessible from the campground are neat. Even though the campground is very close to Payson it feels like you are not close to any type of town. There were some javelina running through the campground at one point which was cool to see. The campground is not at all crowded in winter.

We were so glad to be able to reserve and pay for our site online. We are in a high risk group for the covid virus. We felt very safeplanning our camping trip. We just pulled up and parked, did not have to interact with anyone else. The camp hosts were wearing masks. They were so sweet to wait until we went for a walk to stop by and leave our vehicle tags and park information sheets. It was a great change of scenery!

We had 2 Honda generators stolen in the middle of the night that we had chained together in place. Police came in the morning and a report was made. Generators were never recovered.
