Great location, nice to have that much space outside and it is a good winter cabin as it is easy to heat. One of our favorite spots, easy to get to but quiet and private.

View was amazing. But the cabin should be knocked down and start over. Vault toilet was fine.

Water is not available anymore, the fs changed the listing the day of our trip. I called for weeks and finally received a call the day before our trip. I was told they have many cabins to maintain and this one is far out, then the obvious answer is hire a local plumber.

The location is great, BUT this cabin coulds use some love as it's starting to suffer from the affects of the coastal weather.

Pretty disappointed with with the experience this year here. We've stayed many times at this site and this was by far the worst experience we've had. Its going downhill!!
The water had been off for most of the summer, and our trip was booked for the end of summer. I talked with the forest service prior to the trip and they were conducting some test to make sure the water levels were in check and all should have been good. The forest service ensured me that the cabin would be good to go by the time we showed up. When we arrived, there was hardly any dishes or cookware at the cabin (assuming someone took all the pots and pans that were left for people to use, maybe forest service to clean out dirty dishes? not sure). No mattresses, the bigger couch had been removed, no axe, and no firewood.
The hot water heater was torn apart and left half way put back together, so we had no hot water for the week for showers. This is one of the main reason we stay at this cabin and don't mind paying a little more. We lost water pressure and talked to the forest service while staying at the cabin and they gave me some insight on how the cabin gets its water. I went up to the water source and found that the pipe that supplies the cabin water was not put together and designed properly to supply the cabin with enough water for use. We had literally a trickle out of the facets. We couldn't even take cold showers with the pressure we had. All could be solved by a few hours of work by the forest service to fix the piping properly and not use hose clamps with a coupler on hard schedule 40 pipe ha ha ha.
The forest service was good to respond with returning my phone call or text message until I complained. I'm not usually one of those guys that writes reviews or complains. I thanked them for their time and responsiveness along with these same issues mentioned above and they went casper on me. Not a peep. Might want to call before your trip to see what you should expect during your trip.

Can't count on any of the facilities described amenities, nor can you count on the answer given by USFS when communicating with them. Five days prior to our arrival we were called by USFS and told we should have running water but possibly not hot water. After staying there 2 weeks without any water they showed up as we were leaving to turn the water on. Be prepared not to have available water, cooking source, heating source, or firewood. It's a good two-hour drive to the closest community and has no cell service. This facility has become less maintained since we stayed here 6 years ago.

We had a great time staying at Polk. The space was very big and we ended up camping out next the the wood stove for the night. The scenery was breath taking and we even found some old ship wreck debris on a hike along the tide. My only complaint would be that the door to the wood stove was janky. Once you open the door there is nowhere for it to rest without it falling out making it hard to add wood without getting a friend to help out (it takes two hands to gold the door open). Overall a great experience and definitely worth the drive.

We had a great time staying at Polk. The space was very big and we ended up camping out next the the wood stove for the night. The scenery was breath taking and we even found some old ship wreck debris on a hike along the tide. My only complaint would be that the door to the wood stove was janky. Once you open the door there is nowhere for it to rest without it falling out making it hard to add wood without getting a friend to help out (it takes two hands to gold the door open). Overall a great experience and definitely worth the drive.

Wou have great but the gate lock was broken. Could not get a hold of anyone do no cell service .

The view was beautiful but the cabin information was a bit misleading. In one description it says there's a flush toilet and then in another it says there's an outhouse. We were only told about 3 days before our visit that there was a problem with the water system and in the whole 4 days we were there noone came out to attempt to fix it. The beds are very hard and noisy wooden boards. You'll want more than just sleeping pads to save your back. They should also state in the description that the road to get there from the Highway is a narrow logging road that takes an hour to drive. We did get to see plenty of deer on our trip though and the inlet was great for kayaking.
