No coho anywhere. Some undersized cuttroat near outlet. Lake low, warm. Cabin, stove, outhouse, skiff, wood supply/tools, all in very good shape. Salmon net under bed if you need it and boat seat cushions a plus. Suggest try fishing here later in season like this.

Came into cabin. Boat was not loaded on dock properly. Bridge was falling apart(rocks fell out). The bathroom has not been pumped in 3 years and the tank is filled 95%(major methane(highly explosive); health hazard). Re-arranged rocks had to dive to recovery some of the rocks(bridge has a year at most; wood posts are split and failing) fixed dock for boat and used 20$ of my own para-cord to run all the way to the top where there is a hidden eye-lid drilled into tree stump. Cabin deck needs to be re-stained so the wood planks don’t fail long term! Other then that love this cabin and location! Just got wish there was more love from the Government for this and other locations in the Tongass National Forest.

Unfortunately this cabin is in need of help.
The toilet hasn’t been pumped in years.
This thing was full to the top.
Disgusting and unhealthy.
I even called before and told them it needed to be pumped the year before.
The dock is in need of some serious help.
We tied it together the best we could.
The area is completely over grown.
Make sure to bring duraflame. There’s no wood.
The forest service’s stated they are completely understaffed.
That’s so sad. They need to be funded properly.
Other than that, these cabins are a great place to getaway.

Trip Date 8/29/21 (5 Days): Reflection Lake is a great location to explore. There are beautiful and steep mountains on both sides of the lake with numerous waterfalls. I highly recommend taking a 5/6HP Boat Motor to access the lake. A ride to the inlet takes about 40-45 minutes with the motor as the lake is over 5 miles long. Coho spawn near the inlet and the fishing can be exciting from the sandbar there. These fish can also be taken on the western side of the lake near the outlet (near the waterfalls/avalanche areas across from the cabin* and similar locations close to the inlet). This lake has a summer run of Coho which arrive in late July or early August. I have fished it then and found the fish to be brighter. The lake has mostly Cutthroat Trout which are fun to catch. We caught several in the 22"to 24" size range, but most are 12"-18". The river provides limited fishing opportunities and it can be difficult to wade. However, we caught several Cohos and a dozen Cutthroat near the cable that crosses just before the rapids become like a long stairway to the ocean. We also caught a few small Dolly Varden and what I believe were small Rainbow Trout in the river. The hike to the ocean is difficult to follow (markers are difficult to find) and pretty brutal and only for those who are in good shape. There are signs of Moose, Bear, Wolves and Deer all through the muskeg down to the ocean. The last half mile is through the forest and the trail is overgrown with some difficult terrain. You have to cross a small stream that joins short creek near the ocean as the bridge is out of commission. There are numerous bears in this area during the salmon run.

This is one of the most beautiful places you can visit. The fishing for trout is great and at the right times, the Coho Salmon fishing is outstanding.
