Due to low use of this cabin, it had not been visited by USFS this season, and we arrived in this beautiful, isolated spot, which is accessible only by float plane, to find no usable boat. This greatly impacted our stay. Thankfully the float plane company suggested a search for boat prior to leaving when dropping us off, and a damaged boat was located. The float plane company made a special flight later during our stay to deliver putty, which we used to make repairs to damaged boat, so we were able to use it during the final evening and morning of our stay. USFS personnel were helpful in explaining the circumstances and their inability to remedy the situation, and provided a partial refund. Lack of maintenance was explained as due to low use of cabin and funding.We also found no firewood in the shed, but were prepared to get our own with a chain saw. It should be policy that cabins are evaluated at the beginning of each season prior to being rented, as more serious circumstances could easily be encountered due deterioration of facility or amenities that affect safety, comfort, or enjoyment of stay.
