A nice place to escape within the city! Unlike some urban camping options, this park is quiet and has nice, dark skies. It's always a great experience to camp here.

Some of the cheapest accommodations on Georgetown lake, but dont let the price fool you. This park is gorgeous, great spot for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, you name it! I wish you could park right on the campsite, but thats only because I camp out of my car. Bonus! check out time is at 2 PM!!!

Great campground. No attendant check in. Small campground with very good restroom. Our site was nice. We had plenty of shade and a great view. One evening we had noise neighbors up very late talking very loud and we couldnt sleep.

One of the best tent camping sites to stay at in the Austin area. Clean restrooms and grounds. Access to the San Gabriel river trail and amazing views of north fork/Georgetown lake through out park and trails. Rock beach, cliffs, swimming and more! A place for all ages and families.

Through the winter I needed to camp at Russell because I live in Houston and work out of Georgetown M-F, usually going home on the weekends. This park closes many campsites in the winter months making them unavailable so I found myself sleeping at roadsides and truck stops when there were good campsites not being used simply because they had them closed. I dont understand why. When I was able to get a campsite I hardly left my gear out because Im a hammock camper and I didnt want anyone to mess with my stuff or steal it. 3-4 times I came out after work to find others in my camping spot. A couple weeks ago I left my hammock hanging so people would know it belonged to someone but when I showed up after work (about 5pm) my hammock had been removed. It was still there and had been put back up but not correct so I had to re hang it. People are so messed up these days. The park is nice and it suits me. Such a shame idiots leave trash and my pet peeve, their cigarette butts thrown all over. I find this appalling and wish I could stuff those butts in their ears. This is more and more typical everywhere not just Russell. Clean toilets and hot showers make me happy. Stupid disrespectful people make me angry. This biological attack called covid messed up a lot of things up but it gave many the opportunity to run around the park without paying making it not so nice for those of us who paid. I like the online system I just wish the park was enforced. People will take advantage of everything and Russell park is no exception.

I always enjoy the park. But why in the heck do they close most campsites during winter months? I couldn’t even get a campsite when I needed them during the winter. Although, there are many to choose from they’re just not available during the winter. That sux. A great place and I’m happy to know the gate is working again. Too many folks just driving through.

On line this seemed to be fully booked with few open campsites. When we arrived it was almost empty and remained so until we left.
