Entry to my site was kind of tight with steep drop off in either side. A little challenging to back a trailer, but overall the site was very nice. I would go back and look for a site with better accessibility in the future

Nice COE Park with large sites. Camp Host were great.Sites are large and spaced out. Many sites have very narrow entries an are not very level. Wind off the lake can be rough. We camped at Twin Dikes Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was not a bad little park. Bathroom was clean. Our site, # 17 was so slanted we couldn’t level our rig. Doesn’t make sense that they can’t level these sites. Saw most sites, people had to use a lot of blocks under their rigs to level up. Would rather spend time enjoying my site than crawling around trying to level.

Nice site, wish it was full hook ups though. The park only has one full hook up with 50 amps. There is a boat ramp and the people using it speed through the park like to water is evaporating on them.

We really enjoyed our stay in site 17 at Twin Dikes. It is the first Texas COE park we've visited that has a good trail system. Our site was spacious, with plenty of room for my hammock, where I could watch the migrating monarch butterflies and the bald eagles, which flew over our campsite several times. The camp host site is directly across the road, and the neighboring site does not appear to be in use, so there is plenty of privacy. There is a shelter over the picnic table, a fire ring, and a small, bar-height table to set your grill (or clean fish or something--we weren't sure). We really enjoyed walking the trails and along the lake. Thank goodness for GPS as almost got lost on the trails! It was quite exciting. The shoreline is very sandy and eroding, which is why many of the lakeside sites are closed.

Jasper isn't far away if you need Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply, etc. There is a big dollar store about a mile from the park that is more like a mid-size Wal-Mart. You can buy firewood there or at the gas station nearby. They do not sell it at the park. We were only there for a long weekend, but it looked like a fun area, and we'll probably be back!

We were surrounded by families with dogs that weren’t held responsible for keeping their pets on leashes. It made our time very stressful because we had to stay on top of our dog the whole time because their dogs would come in not her space and disrupt our peace. Our dog is very strong and protective of her family so we felt we had to protect their dogs from the potential of getting hurt which is in no way our responsibility.

Great visit. The only negative experience was the shower. Mostly unusable shower heads. Could easily fix.

The campground is managed by the federal government and if you have a senior or similar type National Parks and Federal Land membership pass, you get 50% of the daily camp fee.
The sites have beautiful views of the lake and are close to the water. The campground was obviously built many years ago as the sites seem designed for smaller trailers / RV's. If your RV is over 34' long, select your site carefully as many of them are not level (you will need leveling blocks for sure), and some have a steep ascent / descent driveway to the site requiring a 90 degree back in from a narrow service road with drainage ditches on either side of the road.
There has clearly been much erosion from rains storms over the years which has not been repaired and a number of camp site have been yellow taped as not usable due to hazardous drop-offs, etc. These can be dangerous for kids or adults not paying attention to where they are walking.
Bathrooms are clean, but also badly in need in refurbishing as they are decades old. Walls are cracked with plaster falling / paint peeling and water temp is unpredictable. There are no sewer connections at most camp sites so the bathrooms are used more than a campgrounds with sewer connections.
Now if the government would get their priorities right and stop funding ridiculous things with our taxpayer dime, instead focusing a billion or so dollars on restoring America's parks and campgrounds the public might actually be served.
If the park was in a better state of repair, it would easily get a rating of 4 or more.

We stayed in location 19. Love the view!!!!
However, there is a lot of trolling hazards from large exposed roots. It really needs a load of dirt to smooth the ground around the fire pit area and picnic table area. Otherwise, everything was great!

We stayed in spot 17 (50 amp) Friday, April 2-Monday, April 5. The park was very clean and the attendants Talmedge and Edna James were so kind and helpful! I would not recommend this specific spot for someone with a trailer or RV longer than about 20-25 foot. ACOE has done recent road work to the park street in front of the driveway and to the drive way. There is a steep drop off across from the drive way and deep culverts on either side of it. For being an Army Corps of Engineers park, one would think this would have been designed and "repaired" lot better. The driveway needs about 4' added on either side at the culvert to allow ease of parking because there is no leeway in front or to the sides of the spot for vehicle maneuvering while backing in. It was certainly a challenge with a 40' trailer + F250. Other than that, the views were beautiful and the weather was perfect!
