Nice park-we hiked the Juniper Point trail and camped along the way. About the best close in backpacking trip near the metroplex! Late fall/wintertime is ideal, although we did get rain Saturday night, it was still in the 50s. Reservation system could be simpler...we reserved the wrong weekend by accident...some very understanding campers helped accommodate us with an unused spot! Thank you unknown campers!

Reservation was early December 2023.Construction being done at entrance of park. Road very bumpyToliets are not flushable, hole dug in ground...1 step up from a porta-potty. No hands washing/sink in the toilet area. And the toilet itself was nasty, three feet of explosive stuff that was eww.Showers were closed, and the closest one was about 15 miles away and costs $8.50. No water. There was electricity, but you should be prepared for basically being self contained. There is a casino right across the bridge. Nice views. Nice concrete pads to park on. (Although, on ours, a truck pulling trailer, the length of the two did not allow for truck and trailer disconnect due to the angle of drive in and pad. It could be very difficult). Most of my complaints might be diminished if it wasn't winter time.

An important thing to know about Juniper Point is that there is an East Campground and a West Campground. The East campsites have access to the lake for swimming near many of the camp sites. This camp site (D07, Loop D) is in the West side of Juniper Point park, and it has limited access to the water. You would have to navigate huge boulders on a steep cliff-like area to get down to the water. There is a nearby boat ramp within walking distance and a small beach area next to that that is again blocked off by lots of rocks. This is not a good camping spot for swimming or kayaking/paddle boarding. You could not park your boat near your site. It is, however, a GORGEOUS, generously sized RV camping spot with great views of the lake and sunset (we camped in June), a pristine concrete pad with picnic table and fire pit with grilltop that pivots out of the way if needed, nice grassy areas, and partial shade. It feels very private. We will definitely reserve this spot again in the fall. We'll have to go to the East side next time for swimming.

West side. Nice spaceous site. Concrete pad and patio. Good view from D07. Clean and nice area around fire pit. Enjoyed our stay in motorhome.
