Live Oak Ridge Park is always clean, orderly and a great place to enjoy the outdoors. The hosts are all great folks and happy to help. We stay there regularly as we are locals and we feel lucky to have such a nice park so close to home. The only thing I would like to see as an improvement would be to restore the 50 amp service to the backside sites.the sites farthest from the lake. Weve stayed at many different sites here and theyve all been nice.

The park is nice and has plenty of large Oak trees for shade, the lake is low, and the shower facilities appear to be cleaned daily, and the park is kept clean. There appears to be an older and a newer section of the park, the older section has more space between campsites and better views while the newer section has covered picnic tables. I was bitten by an insect, the symptoms appear to be that of a brown recluse spider, ahhh, the joys of camping. There were people that didn't keep their dogs on a leach when outdoors and some people don't pick up their dogs poop. Make reservations early as it appears the park gets busy on weekends. Temple Texas is close by, the downtown area is being renovated but access is still available to shops and restaurants. We visited Cantina 1948 for Mexican food, service was great, food was served appealing to the eye, and the food was excellent. The Mexican Board by Chuy has a variety of foods and can be shared by two people for lunch and is reasonably priced. Belton is also minutes away with a beautiful park with a stream for floating or kayaking. The old downtown area has several historical buildings, restaurants, and a Thrift Store filled with thousand of unique items for sale. Just south of Belton is a beautiful little town of Salado, it has the remains of a Womens College from the 1800s and a Heritage museum that give some insight as to the history of the territory. There are several places to eat and to shop.

Nice Camp sites throughout and offer good shade too. They were also spread a good distance so your not on top of one another. Camp Hosts were great. They made sure you didn't have a problem checking in and your site was ready.

We have always been happy at the Corps of Engineers park, and Live Oak Ridge is no exception. Our only real complaint is that the 50A circuits on the sites we were on were not working. We had 30A power with no issues, but people during the heat of the summer might not fair as well.
