I made a reservation for the end of May and received an email confirming said reservation 2 days prior to my visit only to drive 2.5 hours to the campsite to find that it was closed and locked. I never received any notification that my reservation had been canceled and had to call rec.gov who informed me that the campsite was actually closed until June even though I had an actual reservation. I was refunded the amount for my reservation but in this economy I wish I wouldve known ahead of time so I didnt waste gas driving 5 hours round trip for nothing.

Site 9 is too close to the highway and railway. There's a lot of noise from traffic and trains which can be annoying. It also didn't have much shade during the day. The site had shade in the morning and evening but not during the day. I would recommend sites 20-28, those sites are shaded and are further from the noise.

The water was great and being so close to the river was fantastic. The entire campground is very loud. Don’t think I’ll come again because of how loud the cars are and how you can hear them all night.

The LARGEST BONUS OF THE PLACE IS THE SWIMMING HOLE and waterfall.
The pit toilet was.. ok..

The FREEWAY is Right there. And n.e.v.e.r stopped, accompanied by a train track above that. We were pleased to hear not 1 or 2, but up TO 6 OR 7 LOUD TRAINS WITH HORNS ablarin! Such fun with young kids.

The map online is deceitful. We picked (what we thought was) a secluded space from the other sites. These sites are literally a stones through from eachother.
There was BARELY enough room for a 10 man and 12man tent, a tiny site.

We had people WALK RIGHT THROUGH OUR CAMP on their way to the water. Bo consideration or even acknowledgment as they passed within inches. ..and literally 100feet or so down the hill is the path.

Most parking areas for the site accommodate 2 small cars or one full sized vehicle.
We stayed at site 9. Would not recommend without patience and earplugs.

Loved it. Beautiful and easy to hide. A little traffic noise at night but so worth it.
