Campground was clean and tidy. Trails were clear. Well maintained campsites.

This is an excellent horse camp. There are corrals at almost all sites. They are of decent size with the older ones being larger (near spot 8). The garbage is close to most of the sites making it very easy to clean up. Having the water pump centrally located in camp is a plus. More signage to help people new to the camp locate the water pump would be helpful. It is not easily viewed from the more distant camps and looks like it is part of site 8. The only downside for this camp was the number of non-horse campers occupying premium sites with OHV set ups. The ranger, Jerry, visited us in the camp and when we mentioned it he said it was just fine and they did it to be close to the roads. While it may seem like an ok thing the fact is that both of these camps (sites 11 and 1) groups could have camped at any of the other nearby campgrounds while horse campers on the other hand cannot. Horse campgrounds are not readily available and when they are blocked by non-equestrians it restricts this user group further. There needs to be great signage posted discouraging non-equestrians from using these campgrounds with education about shared space and the limited amount of space available for horse camping. Making the statement of how many horses a requirement to make reservations would help. That way at least equestrians would have priority. Otherwise this is a very nice and well maintained horse camp.
