One of my favorite car campgrounds anywhere! Beautiful setting, and I love the outfitters store by the campground.

While undoubtedly a great entry point to the BWCA in it's own right, the campground and store setup makes for a great destination. Day trip canoe paddling out and back and loop routes exist for the range of wilderness experienced travelers. Compared to the usual chaos of highway 61 area campgrounds this is a welcome respite, and the main interior forest roads allow plenty of lake and hiking access.

Are you kidding me! The Sawbill entrance to the BWCA was closed the day before we were to arrive, so of course my stay wasn't going to be good. We decided to cancel our reservation, but couldn't because it was too late to cancel.
