Great spot. Friendly neighbors. The drive to the camp spot is about a 40 minute drive without service. Outhouse was bug free! Bring your own fire wood. This specific spot was maybe a quarter mile walk from the vehicle, so keep in mind for packing. Very nice lake access! Large spot!

Our party of 5 had a lovely night at one of the walk-in sites at Crescent Lake as we were sorting and packing our gear in preparation for a 5-day back country trip. We were taught a valuable lesson by a thoughtful chipmunk about not leaving food unattended even in closed containers. Appreciated the picnic table.

Crescent lake has water, primitive pit toilets, and wild land. What more does anyone need? The walk-in-camps are the best part - all right on the water, yet isolated from one another.

This is a great spot. Definitely more remote than other National Forest campgrounds. Gravel roads from both Tofte & Grand Marais take you there. Bring the gravel bike, great riding. The lake itself is great for a 1/2 day paddle. There are also a couple BWCA entry points close. Great chance to see wildlife. We saw a wolf from a distance and multiple spots where there were moose tracks. We stayed at the walk-in sites and they were private with lake views and access to the lake.
