One of the cleanest campgrounds Ive ever camped at. All the facilities were cleaned every day of my 4 day stay. I usually refuse to use campground outhouses but since there was one conveniently close to my tent I decided to check it out just in case I didnt think I could make it to the shower house about 50 yards from my campsite. The womens outhouse was unbelievably clean, fresh smelling and bug free every time I used it and because of that, I used it most of the time. I ran into the cleaning person in the shower house a couple times and she was always energetic, friendly, and did a great job. Another member of my camping party was just as impressed with the mens outhouse.

Cottonwood campground has many families camping together throughout the summer. The campground crew keep the camping spots very clean as well as the green spaces. Bathrooms are kept very clean with lots of warm/hot water. One complaint is the number of vehicles that are parked on the sites. Vehicles are parked on the grass or even into the road. This makes it difficult when driving a rig through or even riding a bike. If the hosts or park ranger gives them a notice, we don't know because it continues to happen. In other COE campgrounds this is more strictly enforced.

Beautiful setting! Spacious campsite! The only negative thing is that the shower building needs to be updated.

We were not able to utilize our reservation. Our site (#40) was occupied when we arrived. It was 4 PM when we entered the Campground and an unoccupied Class A Mottorhome was in our site.
We asked other guests if there was a Camp Host available. They didn't know.
We drove through the campground (pulling our 36' 5th Wheel) looking for Simone in charge but we were unsuccessful.
Frustrated and angry, we left. We lost our $20 dollar fee. Stayed at Yankton KOA instead.
This was our first experience with an Army Corps Of Engineers Campground. What a complete disappointment.

This is a very nice campground. Clean restrooms and showers and plenty of activities. The only thing is the internet doesn’t work on the weekends.
