Loved the widespaced campsites, especially number 57, then all the other lakeside spots. It has just the right amount of trees for shade without crowding. All nice, and lots of safe bike riding on all the Gavin's Point trails and side roads to the many other campgrounds in the Lewis and Clark area, and to Yankton. We were there the first week of October and it was in the low 80s, much warmer than expected. The Paddlefish snagging by the dam outlet was fun to watch also. There was only power at the site, but a very nice and huge RV dump and fill site on the southeast corner of Crest Road and Highway 52. There are 3 dumps and 3 fill spots, all widely spaced with maneuvering room. Not a speck of dirt or mess in sight. Highly recommend this spot if you want a relaxing stay by a nice lake that doesn't have too much gunk in it. The campground hosts are very friendly and helpful also. Many campsites had a big fire but I don't know if there was wood available at the campground.

We love the location and the access, especially compared to the State Campgrounds! Lots of like minded seniors to visit with!

Great location. Our site (57P) was level, pull through and next to the water. We will be back to kayak and bike when the weather is better

Cottonwood was an excellent stop for us. Though nearly completely full it was very quiet. Our spot, right on the water was excellent. And the kids fishing from the shore in front of us gave us hours of enjoyment.

We love it at Cottonwood. We have made many friends while we are camping.

Campground was good as usual. Lake Yankton water levels were low, Gavins Point dam was not releasing water, but we still found plenty to enjoy.

We go to Cottonwood at least once a year. This is where we like to start off our camping season. The grounds are well kept. The bathrooms are immaculate. The picnic tables are metal and in good condition. The only thing I can say that I don't love is the fire rings aren't always in the best spot if you're with a group, but that's a small thing that we work around.
