We love Carter Lake! The lake is much higher than in years past so the beach is much smaller.

This was a sweet, quiet place to camp in a great area along the coast. It's much closer to the ocean than many other campgrounds--just a short (1 mile) easy hike to a gorgeous stretch of sand and surf. The lake itself is small and we didn't go in it--we mostly used this as a place to eat breakfast and sleep while we enjoyed the nearby things to do (dune buggies, ATVs, lighthouses, kite flying, hiking, mini golf, etc.). We stayed an extra night at Honeyman Campground, and I MUCH preferred the smaller Carter Lake CG. The volunteer host was very nice (and so was his cat, Bella!).

Enjoyed this unique campground next to the lake. Unique as some sites are below where you park,above the lake, some are big & some are small, lake is getting low. Still a very good experience, bathrooms could use a bit more attention as it’s only one set for 23 campsites!

Top notch camping for sure! Sites getting heavy use. Camp Host was friendly and appreciated.

Carter Lake Campground is perfectly built next to the beautiful Carter Lake. There is so much "beach" area with so few people that social distancing was easy. The host are so absolutely lovely and kind. The bathrooms are well cared for and clean. We love the private camping spots. This is our favorite campground for sure. We can't wait until we can go back!
