We booked 2 sites with friends (site 1 and 2). The sites were a bit strange shaped and awfully close to 101. The firepit on site 2 was against a steep slope so we were unable to fully sit around it as a group. Other than that it was the better of the two sites. Site 1 was basically a sideways parking area with a pit. The tent space was smashed up against the parking area and a hillside or the alternative was to be in direct view of the bathrooms with no privacy. Not ideal. The women's bathroom was closed due to who knows. The men's was doable, but not great. There was also a pit toilet down by the day hike parking lot. Overall, its a cool area of the Oregon coast with lots to explore and the lake is awesome. Next time, if we go back, we will look into booking a site on the other side of the campground which has less road noise.

Someone was in our campsite and we were told that the sites had all been overbooked because of an issue on recreation.gov. We weren’t able to get a spot in the campground so had to camp in the trailhead parking lot because it was past 10pm and there was no service to call other campgrounds.

The campsite itself was very nice and the camp host was a very kind woman who was very helpful and communicative. Unfortunately an angry homeless man who appeared to be on drugs came to the campground and refused to leave, and even returned after having been removed by a sheriff. The camp host did a wonderful job of handling the situation, but the site didn't feel safe to stay at, so we ended up cutting our stay short. I'd absolutely suggest this site, but highly suggest scoping out the area first.
