This campground is in the middle of a stunning wilderness. The campground itself is small and is right alongside a river. In order to get to the Hot Springs from the campground, you have to navigate your way across the river, but most people seemed to be OK with that. You can also drive to the other end of the short trail they are on as there is parking available. The campground is next to a resort with rustic cabins, a general store, and a restaurant. There are hiking trails to beautiful little lakes from the campground as well. (From these trails, you enter the Ansel Adams wilderness). In terms of driving, the last hour on Kaiser Pass Road is not for the faint of heart, but there are plenty of little pullouts to accommodate the two-way traffic on the one lane road. And totally worth it!I look forward to going back!

This place was absolutely gorgeous. Everyone was so nice! The shop had everything you needed and then some & the showers were an amazing bonus. You can see the milky way from Old Pedro at night which was phenomenal. This was by far my favorite place to camp.

Nice campsite. Only surprise was no water available. General store has a hose out front with a hose so no real problem. Quiet campsite with great access to the river.

Driving to Mono, the road has pot holes and great views. Loved the lake.

The road to get down to the campsite is a 20 mile one lane road that is very narrow with big pot holes and has no railing, it was a bit awkward when you turned a corner and there was another car coming towards you. There were some turn outs but not many so just drive slow on the road.
Campsite was nice! No cell service for Verizon users, the bear boxes are very small so i was told by the camp host to keep other items in my car. No loud partiers, mainly family's and couples. Pretty quiet after 10pm. Super close to the San Joaquin River and you can hear the water rushing at night. The hot springs get very crowded with day users so its best to go early or an off time. Pit toilets can be a bit stinky, there's no running water spigots that i saw on the campground so bring your own water. The campsite was a bit smaller than it looked in the pictures, could maybe only fit two tents.

The campground does not have running potable water which may surprise some but I guess there's a reason. In any case, be prepared for this. You can always get water out of the spigot in front of the little general store but it’s not very tasty nor convenient for camp use. Very nice CAMP HOST who was very helpful and kind. The campsites are mostly close to the road and some may be a little bunched together but there are plenty with extra room with close proximity to restrooms-which were simple Forest Service Faculties but cleaned daily. Also, we arrived at camp and the grounds were freshly raked and free of any litter or debris (minus some bits of foil In fire-ring left by careless campers). Other than that, a really special place. Unfortunately during the summer this place can be overrun. Not the campsites (limited space available) but the natural hot springs get overwhelmed and many of these people don’t seem to know how to act at a hot springs. Brightly colored inflatables float down the San Joaquin while others put soap in the river. What? Crazy. Anyway, not everyone is up on hot tub etiquette but thank goodness, most people respect the natural setting and all of the wildlife that surrounds this wonderful place.
