Rough road to the campsite, enjoyed site #27 while close to the large group site it allowed a nice view into the forest. We woke to deer and turkey walking through the site. Our 4 boys enjoyed the time away from the city.

Camping at Bass Lake was great. We stayed at Wishon Camp near the dam. Some of the campsites were without shade trees and some were without good places to pitch tents because the sites were on slopes. We had a decent place with a mild slope for the tents but the fire pit was definitely on a slope. That was interesting. Bathrooms were clean and nearby all sites. No showers but the lake was good for that. All sites seemed to have fire pits, barbeque pits, and a picnic bench. Wishon Camp is very close to a resort and summer camp. People at one of those places were loud at night but probably within the hours to do so. There are some stores and restaurants affiliated with resorts that you can hit up for things you may have forgotten (like firewood and fishing worms) and also a more complete shopping experience on the other side of the lake that most likely has everything you need. Because of the pandemic some of the campgrounds were closed so the whole lake was not crowded at all. We caught some great weather mid-April which was on the cool side but nice and warm in the sun. Perfect for bike rides along the road that surrounds the lake. The water was chilly but we swam in it anyway. By chance we did not encounter any pesky bugs for the whole 3 day camp. Our favorite part was the hike approaching Angle Falls. We stopped at several points to take pictures of the cascading water and test our courage to jump in the pools. Eventually we dipped in but be forewarned...that water is cold! We have plans for a return visit maybe when the waters are warmer and also to make it up higher along the waterfall hike. Bass lake was definitely a great place to visit.
