Great campsite with plenty of space and easy water/bech access. However large area has no tree cover and it is very sandy.

Overall the campsite was great. Direct access to the beach for swimming and clean flush toilets. Plenty of picnic tables, two grills and a fire pit. Only issues:1) Very little shade, so bring canopies2) Strangers think it's okay to walk through the campsite to access the beach. This was very annoying. We had to keep asking them not to do it. Some listened, some didn't.

I booked two large group sites (Scout and Knoll) for my Cub Scout pack. The kiddos were super excited to go fishing and kayaking... enjoying the lake. We paid a lot for our lake-front campsites, but it would be worth it to be so close to the water. Imagine our collective surprise when we arrived to find the lake was nowhere near our sites, and had been intentionally drained. We discovered that this is a normal thing that happens every year. There was no mention of it on the Recreation.Gov site, and they still charged us full price. We'll never go back. The "Scout" site is a pretty good one, with water onsite and bathrooms nearby. "Knoll" on the other hand was nearly unusable. Steep and overgrown. Dedicated campers may find room for one or two tents. Again we were charged full price, even though we couldn't use the site. To top it all off, we had to chase away a pedophile after he was discovered asking our kids if they knew someone who used to work at the camp ground, among other unusual questions. He had been lurking around in his pickup, and eventually pulled into the Knoll site (nobody was there because it's too steep to use) and had walked through the brush to talk to a group of boys who were playing in the dried up river bed. A pair of older boys went to get help, and I (the Cubmaster) and a few parents confronted him and asked him to leave. I work in abuse prevention. I know exactly what he was there for.
