Great experience. You're right on a creek, a great view(s), and a junction of a few hikes. I do have to say - make sure your car/vehicle is fueled up otherwise, you're between 59 miles on all sides of windy mountain roads.

Charming location, beautiful meadows and a nice experience overall. Site 21 is where we stayed, tent area is on a slight slope so it's pretty odd when you wake up to feel like your on a little hill. Bathrooma were decently maintained. Firewood can be hard to come by if the host is out. Also be sure to bring plenty of ice. The store what was down the street burned so now the drive is over 3 hours to 1.5 there and back. Over all would recommend if you don't .ind putting a bit of work.

Quaking Aspen Campground is one of those mid Sierra gems that luckily survived immense fire damage which is entirely surrounding it. Fall is my favorite time, but this July visit was surprisingly chill. Mid week is best with far lower occupancy and temps in the 80s. I took the Freeman Creek hike to visit the George Bush Sequoia and got a first hand view of recent fire damage. The meadow hike near the campground is an easy flat 2-miler that is lush, green and beautiful. Western Tanagers and Fox Sparrows were in abundance singing throughout the park! Highway 190 was closed but the Lake Isabella route off Highway 14 through Kernville was a nice surprise alternative. We highly recommend QA!!

The campsite is beautiful and well-kept. We really enjoyed the scenery and the hikes nearby. The bathrooms are clean, although few. Sites came with a picnic table, firepit and were shady. Our trip would have been more enjoyable if other campers had been respectful of their music volume. They chopped wood and blared music until midnight, then woke up at 7:00 am and started all over again. We left after one night because we just wanted some peace and quiet, so we went back to the city to find some.
