This cabin is in a great location and is very quiet - lovely\
BUT
When we arrived the first thing we noticed was the state of the “yard”. It is more of a dust bowl with cow pies (manure) scattered throughout. Later I discovered the barbed wire fence was torn down. This is a health hazard, having livestock manure within yards of the front door, tracking that waste inside the cabin? Yuck!. Because of the animal waste everywhere, there are biting flies and ants throughout the grounds.
Then we entered the cabin and saw that the floors were absolutely filthy and a thick layer of dust covered almost every surface. The previous tenants had left the counters and table tops dirty with food residue. The curtains were not installed properly. There were many flies inside. Broken sceens.
Then we entered the bathroom, which I needed after the 5 hour drive. It was so disgusting my wife will only go in it to use the toilet. The washers in the faucets are worn and water dripping in the tub resulted in a moldy mess. The window is defective.
Then we entered the bedroom. A queen-sized box springs had a double-bed memory foam on top so it doesn’t fit properly. The second bed is right out of a prison movie with a single-sized thin mattress on a very bouncy set of springs. Curtain rods bent. One drawer in the dresser was relatively clean but the other 5 drawers were filled with mouse dropping (poop).
But the final straw came when I was startled by a mouse coming out of the kitchen garbage can about 3 AM. It ran across the floor into the wall -heater/furnace. When I shined the light under the “couch”, I saw that the floor was cover with mouse droppings. Is Hanta virus still a concern?
I feel this cabin is a potential health hazard and should be closed until renovations and fumigation make this a livable cabin.
