Cleanest vault toilets I've ever experienced!

Wonderful campground! Camp host Darren was wonderful, answered all our questions, and everything was clean and well kept. Highly recommend and we plan to go back soon.

Great campground and awesome camp host. I do not believe we had the best camp site @ site 6. No running water and smelly bathrooms. Fun experience overall and would go back!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Since it is a 4 hour drive from us we decided to stay for 4 nights, we split the Trail of 100 Giants into two shorter "hikes" (it's really an easy walk, not much effort) on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday mornings before it got into the hotter part of the day. Thursday we hit the hike to the waterfall mentioned in a previous review. The camp host called it a "walk" but it's definitely a hike! It is absolutely beautiful, but unless we were on the wrong path (?), it is a hike you need to be prepared for. After getting to the point where it is a down hill goat path, my husband noped out and my kids wished we had too. We were definitely not wearing the right shoes or had enough water with us. I also would not consider it a very safe place to take younger kids. If you decide to go, from the camp ground, take a right and head about 3 miles where you will pass mile maker 9 (00) to park in the turnout. The trail was marked 22S11, if I remember correctly. The campground itself was very well kept. I have never seen vault toilets so clean and smell free in all my camping years! We stayed in spot 5, which is right next to the camp host but he wasn't there the first two nights. I was worried that when he did show up it would feel uncomfortable being so close to him because I am a very private person. He and his wife (maybe both are considered the camp hosts?) ended up being extremely nice, he seems to be a very outgoing person that really enjoys being there. The first two days the camp store was open from 10 to 3:30 and taken care of by a fill in clerk. Then it was open from 10 to about 5 each day but not 100% sure on the closing time, and ran by the lady camp host. There are a few things available in case you forget them, such as sleeping bags, cooking tools, a few snacks, water by the individual bottle or 1 gallon jug (thankfully because we were about a jug short), shirts, hats, and games/educational things. More to say but not enough room!

Great spot -- we stayed in a tent site (#5) just across from the gorgeous meadow. Campground is near an unmarked waterfall that another camper directed us to (drive from campground towards Ponderosa just past mile marker 9, park in the turnout on the right). Also near Dome Rock (excellent hike / lookout point) and the small town of Ponderosa. Restrooms were clean and we were able to find plenty of firewood on site. No service anywhere in this area, so bookmark your hikes and destinations prior to arriving. Highly recommend!

I've been camping since I was 7 years old (for 50 years), this was my first time here (the same for my kids), the scenery was absolutely stunning!! We would definitely come back. The camp hosts were very helpful and had great suggestions for other local sights (other than Trail Of 100 Giants). I had never seen that many sequoias in one place, truly remarkable.
