Worst Camping Experience Ever
I am resorting to writing this letter and asking for help to resolve a major complaint and discuss resolution, My wife and I had a reservation for a rental Yurt for 3 nights (June 8-10) at Redwood Meadow campground in Sequoia National Park, we had driven over three hundred miles to get to the campground and when we arrived we found the camp host had left the site and our rental Yurt locked shut. I was stunned that this ridiculous situation could happen, we were left in a very difficult position, our only available choice was to sleep in the car overnight while the temperature dropped to 31 degrees overnight, this turned out to be one of the worst nights possible for 2 senior citizens 75 years old. The next day still no Camp Host available to unlock our rental Yurt so we were forced to abort our vacation and drive another three hundred miles back to home the next day, I cannot begin to express how angry and frustrated we are, this situation deserves to be examined and corrected so no one else has to suffer the same devastating consequences. I am requesting my reservation fee for the Yurt be refunded and that the very least you can do is provide me with a complimentary 3 night stay for a future trip after we recover from the discomfort or having to drive six hundred plus miles in two days, and for the money spent acquiring camping gear and food for the ruined camping trip that we had hoped would be a pleasant time, but unfortunately turned out to be a complete and total disaster. I have found that trying to resolve this issue difficult at best while working my way through the NPS system. I cannot put into words how disappointed I am with the situation I was placed in due to the negligence of a park employee and the organization that allowed this nightmare experience to have happened. I hope and pray that my experience is not repeated for another unfortunate camper.
