Stayed for only 2 of 3 planned nights. Yurts were as expected, basic but the squeaky bed frames kept people awake.Facilities were very poor. Only water available was to buy bottles (water supply has not been functional for 2 years and seemingly no interest in fixing it). Toilets were filthy, fully of flies and I doubt ever cleaned. No toilet paper either.Never saw the camp host for the entire time and the shop is open until 3pm only, so when we missed that the first evening, we had to wait until 10am the following morning to get water. The trail of 100 giants was lovely and saved this rating, but I would not ever return due to the poor camp site conditions.

Ive done a lot of camping in my 30 years, but have never had a camp host quite like this before. The host and his wife made us feel right at home! I want to come back next season just to see them lol but also the sites were amazing too. Plenty of places to hang a hammock and our site as right next to the stream! Very cool. 10/10

The experience was 5 stars for my family. We stayed in a Yurt and it was very straightforward. This is camping, so keep that in mind. Bring a lantern and gallons of water as there is no electricity or running water. With the trail of 100 Giants literally across the street, this in a no brainier for a family trying to see the beautiful Sequoias at an affordable price.

NPS Western Region,

Worst Camping Experience Ever

I am resorting to writing this letter and asking for help to resolve a major complaint and discuss resolution, My wife and I had a reservation for a rental Yurt for 3 nights (June 8-10) at Redwood Meadow campground in Sequoia National Park, we had driven over three hundred miles to get to the campground and when we arrived we found the camp host had left the site and our rental Yurt locked shut. I was stunned that this ridiculous situation could happen, we were left in a very difficult position, our only available choice was to sleep in the car overnight while the temperature dropped to 31 degrees overnight, this turned out to be one of the worst nights possible for 2 senior citizens 75 years old. The next day still no Camp Host available to unlock our rental Yurt so we were forced to abort our vacation and drive another three hundred miles back to home the next day, I cannot begin to express how angry and frustrated we are, this situation deserves to be examined and corrected so no one else has to suffer the same devastating consequences. I am requesting my reservation fee for the Yurt be refunded and that the very least you can do is provide me with a complimentary 3 night stay for a future trip after we recover from the discomfort or having to drive six hundred plus miles in two days, and for the money spent acquiring camping gear and food for the ruined camping trip that we had hoped would be a pleasant time, but unfortunately turned out to be a complete and total disaster. I have found that trying to resolve this issue difficult at best while working my way through the NPS system. I cannot put into words how disappointed I am with the situation I was placed in due to the negligence of a park employee and the organization that allowed this nightmare experience to have happened. I hope and pray that my experience is not repeated for another unfortunate camper.

It was surprisingly better than we thought it would be! We picked a spot with a Yurt...which was basically like a fancy tent with a bunk bed and a futon. There was a lot of space inside the Yurt, also a SMALL table and rocking chair. Going into it, knowing we wouldn’t have electricity, lights, water, etc we really had to plan on what to bring and not overpack. We went to bed a little earlier than we normally would, but it was nice hanging out by the campfire looking at the stars until we were ready to head in for some sleep. Lots of hikes to go on around the area. The camp host was very friendly and will provide you with great info about the area if you want to find a good hike or interesting places to go/hike to. The 100 Giants is a really cool thing to see if you haven’t and camping that close to them is pretty cool.

Lovely spot. We stayed in a yurt which was a nice treat. Only thing was the bunk bed mattress was ridiculously uncomfortable. The site was great and the camp host was on top of everything and very nice. We'd come back for sure. Just a word of warning, fill up your tank before climbing the mountain in Ducor, Kernville or Over in Camp Nelson s there is no where else to fill up and the elevated windy roads will guzzle the gas. We missed out exploring the peppermint falls because we were low on gas.
