One of the best camping experiences of my life.

I was at #14, which I do not recommend because once it hits 8am there is absolutely no shade at this site until around 5pm. Luckily I was out of there by that time most mornings, but the days I was I would have loved to spend more time at my campsite instead of hiding in the trees. The river is less than 100 feet away and over by campsite #8 there is a short but slightly steep trail that leads to a beach area where the water is calm and you can see "Alligator Rock" which is a big boulder across the river with eyes painted on it. I highly recommend you bring a floaty to relax on the river and encourage you to drive up and down the river to find other calm areas (bring a safety vest if you are not a strong swimmer). I saw a couple kayaking too! It was very windy but since Limestone is further up we did not get as bad of winds as they did down by Camp 3 and the Flats campsites so I was thankful. The army jets flew over every day around 10am and noon, so just a heads up, it wasn't annoying but it startled me the first day. The restrooms and the campground in general was very clean and I felt safe the entire time I was there. I recommend bringing an EZ up no matter what campsite you are in, you will appreciate it, but make sure to be aggressive when staking it and your tent down as the winds will rip things out. There was the little town of Kernville less than 30 minutes away that had absolutely everything from fresh groceries, cheap gas, ice, bathing suits and river rafts, tackle and bait, camp supplies, EVERYTHING, so don't stress about forgetting something. I did not have reception at the site but its strong in town. The ranger station is down there as well as cute antique shops, restaurants, a park and other things to entertain if you want to roam for an afternoon. The drive to Trail of 100 Giants was very easy, and I even drove the 2.5 hours to Sequoia National Park, left at 5am and came back at 7pm; exhausting, but manageable. Amazing time, adventure is out there!
