Very nice campground away from all the people and tourists that come up to the NP. Lower Stony Creek Campground seemed to have more amenities and people. We stayed in site 16 (not big enough for truck+trailer) vehicle or trailer only. This site was great because it had the river slightly down the hill behind it. In fact that whole row of camp sites have the river behind and you can walk down to it. Its almost like private access to your own river. Theres really only one level spot for a big tent. If you have another small tent theres another spot that might fit it next to the bear box. Plenty of shade so we didnt need the pop-up. The river behind is really the selling point of these sites on that side. Just beautiful and a relaxing sound when going to sleep. Minimal bugs, skeeters. Fellow campers were all quiet (but it wasnt prime camping season). YMMV. Its about 30min from General Sherman tree, maybe 45min back down to Grants Grove or Hume Lake. Its a little faster than the NP map they give out would have you believe. We took the second day to go to General Sherman Tree, I hadnt been in years. (Theres a reason why hundreds of people lol) GO EARLY. Before buses and late sleepers get up the mountain.Only real negative:We went in the end of September which is the end of season and didnt bring firewood. The camp host didnt have any. But I didnt see it posted on the board on the way in so we assumed shed come by to sell some. It started getting late so I went to ask and she said she didnt have any. Wouldve been nice to know when we got there so we had time to go pick some up. Had the kids go forage and we found enough. But not what you want to do right after setting up camp at near dark. The fire pit was pretty badly damaged, the lower grate busted through and the ring was crooked. Tried to straighten it out but not worth the effort. Just made getting a fire going a little tough.

Location next to the NP was great and the creek is beautiful. However, lines at bathroom long (1 vault toilet in our area), lots of yellow jackets (normal in Sequoia), our campsite was not flat and we were definitely at an angle and since we were right next to the creek, large groups just nonchalantly and unapologetically walked through our campsite all day, even when we were in the middle of eating. Maybe a marked path to the creek would be helpful?

Running water, clean bathroom, nice host, direct access to the creek from lot #16. I really liked the place and would stay here again.

We stayed in Site 16 and had a very pleasant stay. Manuel, the camp host, was great. I actually think he is the host for Stony Creek and was filling in until a host was found for Upper Stony Creek. He was friendly and informative. Whenever someone checked out, he promptly came by and cleaned the site. The bathroom were very clean. Overall, one of my favorite campgrounds in Sequoia. I do think that site 16's data on recreation.gov should be updated to reflect that the site has a decent grade to the parking area. The levelest spot I could find for my 18ft Travel trailer was 4.5 inches off level left to right and about 12 to 15 inches front to back. The slope left to right (driver's side high) made the step out of the trailer pretty far down.
