Campsite was clean, bathroom maintained daily. Charles is available for any questions.

First, we stopped at the nearest Ranger Station to Eshom CG because there was confusion between recreation.gov and USFS website whether the CG had in fact opened for the year. We were told by the Ranger that the CG WAS NOT open and would be opening the NEXT day. There was no mention that the USFS was conducting a prescribed burn in the area. We got to Eshom CG and the USFS was conducting a prescribed burn in Sequoia NF which included active burns in Eshom Campground. Our site alone had 3 active burns, plus what was occurring in the other campsites, the communal areas of the campground, and the surrounding forest. Needless to say, we did not stay the first night which left us scrambling for a campsite and managed to reserve the LAST campsite in the area. The 3 active burns at our site were out and we decided to stay the night even though there were still some active burns and the air was very heavy with smoke (we spoke with a Supervisor who was driving though monitoring the burn and he said it was safe to camp) and we were forced to stay because there were no other available campsites in the area. The car was covered in soot the next morning and we had to stop at a car wash in Visalia to clean the car. Everything smelled like the inside of a BBQ pit ad there was a fine layer of ashed inside the car. Our campsite was right beside a creek and large. I was surprised that the campgrounds had trash about considering the CG opened late 'to clean up from winter storms'...I'm giving Eshom two stars instead of only one star because our CG Host was super nice.

Pleasantly surprised for sure! This was a last-minute booking and pretty much just took what was available. We had never been here before so we were a little concerned. It is quite a long drive up from the highway (about 1 1/2 hours towing our travel trailer) on a narrow road. Our space (#10) was huge with plenty of space to back in our trailer. The only con with experienced was the bugs! We used "Off" but that didn't work. Flies, bees, and mosquitos! Bring Citronella candles (I forgot mine) and plenty of strong bug spray. Other that that, our site was absolutely beautiful and perfect.
We never saw a camp host but somehow the trash and bathrooms were tended to. If you come out of the campground and turn right, it will put you on a fire road that leads your straight to the highway to King's Canyon. (about 45 minutes) The road is bumpy and unpaved so would not recommend low profile vehicles. This campground is tucked away deep in the forest with not much to do around. We saw dirt bikers, mountain bikers, and shooters. We loved our weekend here and would love to go back!

Nice campground, but it is far from L.A.
Campground itself is quite and nice.
There are many cow droppings during hike on trails.
WiFi signal was good.

This is a lovely location. But be aware you need to be very confident in your abilities to drive very narrow, windy rough lane & half black top roads that have blind hair pin turns. This is not just the 8 & 1/2 mile road leading up to the campground but the roads leading to that road. You also need to be confident in your equipment. If so enjoy the piece & solitude.
