This campground was excellent. Lots of space and flat spots for a tent at most sites, great mix of shade and sun, and protected from bad wind. You could see your neighbors but they weren't that close. Very close hike to the falls. Really awesome, huge ponderosa trees. We spent 3 nights here and loved it.

This was our second time in this site. This is a great site for RVs and trailers (we brought a 34' RV), but also great for tent campers with plenty of level tent pad locations and lots of shade. This site is directly across from a restroom which was well-maintained during our visit and water is close by as well. The fire rings could use some additional maintenance - ours was pretty full of debris - and the site reservation cards were not well-maintained at this time, but it didn't affect our stay or our rating. This is a great site!

We used to enjoy coming to Jemez Falls Campground and have camped here since it opened more than 25 years ago. But the campground is NOT being taken care of.
1.The bathrooms smell awful and are full of flies. The Forest Service truck comes through daily and replenishes toilet tissue and that is it. SOMEONE NEEDS TO SANITIZE THE BATHROOMS AND HANG FLY STRIPS.
2.The trash dumpsters were overflowing when we arrived and they were not emptied during the five days that we stayed. Trash was all over the ground and blowing around. (The warnings are "This is bear country: lock up your food. What a joke!) THE DUMPSTERS SHOULD BE EMPTIED TWICE A WEEK.
3.The fire rings are so full of ashes that you can't make a fire. People are digging out the fire rings themselves and putting the ashes under trees in the campsites. What if the ashes aren't cold?! There could be a forest fire. THE FIREPITS SHOULD BE CLEANED OUT ONCE A WEEK.
4.The campground host did not leave his camper during our five day stay. His golf cart never left his site. He did not check us in, he did not change any of the campsite "reserved" signs, he did not clean the fire rings, he did not drive around the campground. He was the invisible man.
It is fortunate that people tried to clean up after themselves and leave their campsites in good shape. But the U.S. Forest Service, the campground host and Reservation.gov don't seem to care about Jemez Falls Campground.

At the time of this writing, there were no trash dumpsters in the park. Obviously, this may change, so check with the host upon arrival. The host was allowing us to drop off trash with them at the time. Weekends can get busy here, but we visited mid-week and Loop #1 was very quiet. Site #19 is one of our favorites with plenty of room for our 34' RV and enough room left over for a second vehicle. Good site for a truck/trailer combination as well with a fairly level pad. As you face the site from the road, the adjacent site to the right (#17) is a little close, but 19 is the last site in the loop, so to the left it is open forest all the way to the access road. There are a good deal of trees around this site, so it's easy to find some shade any time of the day. If tent camping, you'll find a large, level area for a tent pad.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite campground, there is so much to do! Endless hiking . . Water to cool off in . . Nice and quiet. The hike to McCullough falls is gorgeous, but be ready for a tough hike back! But it's only tough for a little bit, and completely worth it! The falls on the other side of the freeway is also gorgeous. . .we really are in the LAND of ENCHANTMENT
