Beautiful campsite.

We camp here often and usually really enjoy our stay. This year the bathrooms were “full” and gross. The fire pits were also 3/4 full of ash. We also never saw the campground attendant once in the three days we were there.

We loved Jemez Falls Campground. The tall ponderosa pines, green grasses, wild flowers and beautiful sunsets made for a comfortable, eye popping stay. The campsites are especially large so that you have a lot of privacy. The hike to Jemez Falls is short and people played in the river and picnicked there. Our early morning hike at Las Concha’s was particularly beautiful with the morning shadows. We spent one day in Los Alamos at the Bradbury Science Museum - very worthwhile for films and interactive exhibits. We went to the Mesa public library, near the museum, to charge our phones and were surprised to find it a stunning building with expansive views of Los Alamos, a large collection of art and sculpture and a charming art exhibit on the upper floor. We also visited the Valles Caldera National Preserve - an unusual volcanic formation. Don’t miss the ranger’s talk about how the caldera was formed and the people who lived in ranches on this land before it became a National Preserve. We exited via 4 west through Jemez Springs and were glad to drive through the steep, colorful canyon on that route. The campground was an excellent place to stay for all these activities.

Jemez Falls is our favorite place to camp. We usually camp here about 6 times a year. We were disappointed to know that Loop 4 is a "quiet zone" and generators can not be used there. During our previous trips, there were not aware of any campers who violated the usual generator policy of no generators after 10 PM or before 6 AM. I'm hoping that in the future generators will be able to be used in the all the Loops.
