Site 8 was nice. It had great views and it was semi-private. There was some flat areas around the site to put up a tent. But only a 2-4 person tent would fit. The walk from the parking spot to the site is about 50 and its uphill. You do have to walk through site 7 to get there which feels weird. There are 2 bathrooms with pit toilets and no running water. There are 2 dumpsters for trash and several water spots are scattered around the campground. I didnt like that hikers would walk through my site regularly to get to the trailhead. It was awkward. Cell signal is non-existent. The dirt is very dusty when walking around. So, it might case issues for individuals with respiratory issues. I did see black bears close to my site as the sun started going down. The drive to the campground is tight.

It's a drive up from Idyllwild but well worth it. Amazing views and campsites are fairly spread out. Convenient access to Marion Mountain Trail.

I got to the campsite at 2pm Friday afternoon after a very helpful camp host pointed me in the right direction when I ended up at fish creek campground. Overall the campsite was very nice with clean bathrooms and no water (as mentioned when getting the permit). The other guests were respectful of the 10pm noise curfew. Early Saturday morning we hiked up to San Jaciento peak and got back to camp in time for the 2pm checkout. Would definitely recommend this campsite.

Clean vault bathrooms. Spacious sites and close to trails.

I liked the campground. The sites are spaced apart nicely, but the sites on western loop are fairly out in the open so you do see your neighbors quite a bit. However you also get the best views and the nicer toilets on that side too. The eastern loop is set more in the forest and so you tend to have a bit more privacy. Most of the sites require some walking up or down decent little slopes to get from where you park your car to the actual camping spots. Overall, the location is what I came for and that did not disappoint! Toilets weren't the cleanest (on a Sunday night after the weekenders).
